Rainier Blend

rainierblend

Rainier Blend is the softest product we install. It's the one product that consistently stops people when they touch it at an estimate. The Mini W blade shape is engineered specifically for softness, and the 80-ounce pile weight means that softness doesn't come at the expense of density or durability. It's plush in the same way a well maintained bluegrass lawn is plush not spongy, not artificial feeling — just genuinely comfortable underfoot.

The clover-toned color blend is what makes it look like a real Pacific Northwest lawn. It's field green, olive, and clover tones together create the organic, slightly muted color variation that overcast Pacific Northwest light actually rewards. Single-tone products flatten in that light. Rainier Blend doesn't.

It's the product we most often install in backyards where kids play barefoot, around outdoor living spaces, and anywhere the tactile experience of being on the lawn matters as much as how it looks from the street.

Rainer Blend is the right choice if...

  • Softness underfoot is your top priority you want a lawn that feels good barefoot, not just one that looks good from the street
  • You have young kids who spend real time on the lawn running, sitting and playing
  • You want a natural-looking color. The clover blend reads as a real Pacific Northwest lawn, not a sports field
  • Your yard gets afternoon sun and surface temperature matters in summer — the lighter clover tone stays measurably cooler than darker products
  • You have an outdoor living space, patio, deck, or seating area where the turf is part of the experience and comfort matters
  • You want a lifetime manufacturer warranty on your product

The Mini W blade shape is designed for one thing: softness Most landscape turf uses S or W blade shapes optimized for upright appearance and light diffusion. The Mini W in Rainier Blend is a narrower, softer variant engineered specifically to maximize the tactile feel of the surface. More fiber contact per square inch means a surface that responds underfoot more like turf than plastic. If you've touched artificial grass and it felt like carpet or astroturf, it was a different blade shape. This one doesn't feel like that.

Clover-tone color stays cooler in summer Darker turf surfaces absorb more solar radiation and can get uncomfortably hot on sunny August afternoons in Tacoma, Gig Harbor, and South Sound yards. The clover and olive tones in Rainier Blend reflect more solar energy than deeper green products, which translates to a measurably cooler surface on warm days.

80-ounce pile weight means the softness holds up Soft products that are under-engineered flatten quickly in high-traffic areas. Rainier Blend's 80-ounce pile weight puts it in the upper tier for density, which means the plush feel you get when it's new is still there after two years of kids, dogs, and regular use. The pile height and weight work together, you can't have real softness without the density to back it up.

Yes. The Mini W blade shape is engineered specifically for softness — it's a narrower, more flexible blade than the S or W shapes used in most landscape turf. Combined with the 80-ounce pile weight, it produces a surface that consistently surprises people at estimates when they feel it for the first time. Among landscape products in our lineup, nothing is softer. Natural is very close in texture.
Very natural. The clover, field green, and olive combination replicates the organic color variation of a well-maintained Pacific Northwest lawn rather than the uniform bright green of a Southern grass variety. In overcast Pacific Northwest light — which is most of the year — multi-tone products read as real grass. Single-color products go flat and obvious. Rainier Blend holds up in those conditions better than most.
Yes, with a note. The softness and pile weight make it excellent for households where dogs lounge and play on the lawn. For dedicated high-use dog runs with multiple large dogs, we'd typically discuss whether the shorter-pile Bermuda Blend is a better fit for cleanup and drainage purposes. We'll walk you through that at your estimate based on how your dogs actually use the space.
Darker colors absorb more solar radiation. It's the same principle as wearing a black shirt on a hot day versus a white one. The lighter clover and olive tones in Rainier Blend reflect more energy than deeper green products, resulting in a cooler surface on sunny days. It's not a dramatic difference in the Pacific Northwest where sunny days are the exception, but on a July afternoon in Tacoma or Puyallup it's the difference between comfortable barefoot and uncomfortable.
Rainier Blend uses EnvyLawn's K-29 proprietary backing rather than SYNLawn's EnviroLoc+ system. If PFAS-free certification is a priority, our Natural and Native Grass products use SYNLawn's independently verified PFAS-free, USDA BioPreferred EnviroLoc+ backing. We carry both and can walk you through the differences at your estimate.
Limited lifetime warranty from EnvyLawn. Real-world performance in Pacific Northwest residential use is 15 to 20 years. Foot traffic is the main variable. UV stabilizers are built into the fiber to prevent fading.
Yes. The color blend reads as a natural lawn from the street, which is the primary HOA concern. We've installed Rainier Blend in HOA communities across Pierce, King, and Kitsap County. If your HOA has a formal approval process, we can provide samples and documentation.
