Is synthetic turf safe for kids and pets?
Yes. The turf we install is made in the USA and designed to be safe for everyday contact with kids and pets. We choose materials and infill that are non-toxic, PFAS-free, and free from crumb rubber or silica sand so there’s nothing harmful sitting on the surface your family uses.
Just as important as the turf itself is what goes underneath. A properly built base allows water to drain through instead of sitting on the surface, which keeps the yard cleaner and more sanitary for pets and children.
We’ve made deliberate choices in the products we use so families in Tacoma, Gig Harbor, and across the Puget Sound can feel confident their turf is safe to live on, play on, and enjoy every day.
How long does synthetic turf last?
When installed correctly, most northwest area synthetic turf yards last 10 to 20+ years before showing meaningful wear.
Longevity depends less on the turf itself, the base preparation and infill. A properly compacted base keeps the surface flat and stable through years of rain, pets, and daily use, which is especially important in Western Washington’s wet climate.
Turf used for dog areas, commercial playgrounds and high-traffic yards is selected specifically for durability so it holds its shape over time. Choosing the right turf for the application is important and we will guide you to make the best decision for your property.
How to maintain artificial grass?
Very little maintenance is required for artificial grass.
Most homeowners keep their turf clean with an occasional rinse from a garden hose and a leaf blower to remove debris. For pet turf installations, rinsing the spots where dogs relieve themselves helps keep the surface fresh and clean.
If deeper cleaning is ever needed, enzyme-based cleaners made for synthetic turf work well, and we’re happy to recommend products we trust. We also offer an aftercare cleaning service for homeowners who prefer a little extra help.
Compared to natural grass, synthetic turf eliminates mowing, watering, reseeding, and mud, leaving you with a yard that stays green year-round and requires minimal upkeep.
Where do you offer your synthetic turf installations?
We install synthetic turf throughout the northwest including Tacoma, Gig Harbor, and the greater Pierce and Kitsap County areas, where most of our projects take place.
We also regularly complete installs in surrounding communities across the Puget Sound, including Port Orchard, Lakewood, Puyallup, University Place, and parts of South King County. From time to time, we take on specialty projects in Eastern Washington and other areas when the right opportunity comes along.
If you’re unsure whether you’re within our service range, we’re always happy to take a look and let you know.
Is American made turf better?
We're proud to say that all our synthetic turf products are made in the USA. Supporting American manufacturing is important to us, and we source our artificial grass 100% domestically. While some of our competitors try to cut costs by sourcing products internationally, we cannot compromise on quality despite the additional cost. What is the most realistic artificial grass?
We have several very realistic look options that mimic natural grass very well. Many of our artificial grass products have tan or brown thatch layers that add body and give them dimension. Our goal is to provide you with the best looking artificial grass available.
Does artificial grass get hot?
Like any outdoor surface, synthetic turf can warm up during the hottest part of the day, similar to sand, concrete, or decking.
In the Puget Sound, this isn't an issue because extreme heat is uncommon. On warmer days, a quick rinse with a hose cools the surface almost immediately. Many homeowners also choose to keep an existing sprinkler head in the area, which makes it easy to refresh the turf before kids or pets use it.
We also use infill designed to promote airflow and drainage, which helps the turf release heat more effectively than older turf systems.
How far out are you booking new synthetic turf installations?
Our average lead time for new synthetic turf installation in Washington State ranges anywhere from 4-16 weeks depending on the season.
We keep our schedule realistic because our own in house crew completes every installation from start to finish. This allows us to maintain consistent quality, proper base preparation, and attention to detail instead of rushing projects through.
Many homeowners find the short wait worthwhile because it ensures the job is done carefully.
How much does artificial turf installation cost per square foot?
Most full synthetic turf installations in Western Washington range between $11 and $18 per square footdepending on yard size, access, and how much base preparation is needed.
Backyard putting greens and playground areas typically cost more usually $18 to $24+ per square foot. These projects require additional materials, shaping, and detail work.
The final cost is influenced by factors like grading, drainage needs, and how easy it is to access the space. We provide free estimates throughout Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Pierce County and the surrounding areas so homeowners can understand exactly what their project will involve before making a decision. See our artificial grass installation cost calculator for a ballpark quote.
What goes under synthetic turf?
We use several different turf sub-base options depending on the project. Commercial grade geotextile non-woven landscape fabric is used on every project to help prevent weed growth while also acting as a soil/ base separator. Clean or minus crushed rock under the turf is used depending on the application and drainage needs. Artificial grass putting greens require a special finer rock that is used like a frosting to shape the final undulations. Synthetic Turf playground pads are installed above the the rock layer to provide cushion where fall height requirements are necessary to be met. Artificial grass installation can also prevent damage from moles, raccoons and birds. If you have any more questions about your synthetic grass install feel free to fill out our contact form.
Does artificial grass work well in the Northwest's rainy climate?
Yes, and for many homeowners here, that’s the main reason they choose it. Muddy yards are all too common in many northwest neighborhoods.
Grass struggles in the Puget Sound because the ground stays wet for long stretches of the year. Lawns turn soft, muddy, and worn from everyday use. Synthetic turf, when installed with the right base and drainage, allows water to pass through quickly so the surface stays firm and usable even after heavy rain.
Instead of waiting for the yard to dry out, you can use it in every season without worrying about mud, worn patches, or constant recovery. That’s what makes turf such a practical solution for homes and shared spaces in this climate. Contact us to find out if our services are right for your project.
