Luxury Backyard Putting Green in Canterwood, Gig Harbor
7,000 Sq Ft of Luxury Turf and a Backyard Putting Green in Canterwood, Gig Harbor
Gig Harbor, WA — Large-Scale Artificial Turf Installation + NP50 Putting Green
Some projects push you. At 7,000 square feet wrapping around an entire home in Canterwood Golf and Country Club, this one was a full week of precision work — excavation, grading, seaming, and a putting green build, all while working around a zip line that cut directly across the install zone. No shortcuts. Just the kind of job our crew genuinely loves.
The homeowners had the space, the setting, and a family that actually uses their yard. Kids, barefoot summer afternoons, and a dad who wanted a real putting green right outside the back door. They came to us wanting something that looked every bit as sharp as the neighborhood it sits in — and performed even better.
Our Softest Turf, Built for Exactly This
For the primary lawn areas, the clients selected our Rainier Blend in Clover — an 80 oz face weight artificial turf — and it's not a subtle choice. This is the softest synthetic grass we install. The 80 oz faceweight means the fibers are dense, plush, and hold their upright position under heavy use. For families who are actually out in the yard, that softness isn't a luxury — it's the whole point.
The Clover colorway was a natural fit for Canterwood. It reads as real, lush, and Pacific Northwest-appropriate without looking artificial against the golf course backdrop. At 7,000 square feet wrapping the entire property, color consistency and seam placement were critical. Our crew mapped every seam and ran the grain direction to ensure the finished surface reads as one continuous, seamless lawn — even at this scale.
The NP50 Putting Green with Bermuda Blend Fringe
Paired with the main lawn, we built a custom NP50 putting green with a Bermuda Blend fringe border — and the combination works exactly the way it should. The NP50 is a tournament-grade putting surface: tight, true, and consistent across every line. The Bermuda Blend fringe softens the transition to the primary lawn and gives the green that professional, course-style look that just doesn't come from edge-to-edge putting turf.
For a home that sits inside an active country club community, anything less would have felt out of place. This setup fits.
A CAT 308 Excavator and a Zip Line
Here's where the job got interesting. A project this size requires real equipment, we brought in a CAT 308 excavator to remove the existing material and establish proper grade and drainage across 7,000 feet of wrap-around footprint. What made it more complicated: the homeowners had a zip line running across the install area, and it had to stay up and functional throughout the entire excavation process.
Our crew worked under and around it for the full dig, adjusting equipment positioning and approach angles to protect the structure while still hitting grade targets. It's exactly the kind of site constraint that trips up crews without experience, and exactly the kind of thing our team handles without needing to make it your problem.
The Result: A Yard That Fits the Neighborhood
Canterwood is one of the most recognizable addresses in Gig Harbor. The homes are well-kept, the landscaping is intentional, and the bar for curb appeal is high. This installation holds up to all of it. The wrap-around coverage means every angle — driveway approach, backyard views from inside, sight lines from the putting green — looks finished and deliberate.
No mud. No mowing. No seasonal reseeding. Just a yard the whole family actually uses, twelve months a year.
