Native Grass

Native Grass is the product we recommend when a homeowner wants a clean, tight, well-kept lawn appearance. Where other landscape turfs aim for lush and full, Native Grass is shorter and more refined a 1.5 inch pile that reads like a freshly mowed lawn rather than a meadow. These features are great for backyards in the Northwest where the goal is a crisp, maintained look from the street, this is the product that delivers it.

It carries the same technical foundation as our premium landscape turfs, plant-based soy backing, Sanitized antimicrobial fiber, drainage above 400 inches per hour, and a limited lifetime warranty in a pile height that fits all purpose backyard scenarios with expected kid and pet use.

What Makes Native Grass Unique

Short pile, manicured appearance. The 1.5 inch pile height sits lower than most landscape turfs, giving it the look of a well-maintained lawn that has just been cut. For HOA neighborhoods, street-facing front yards, and properties in Puyallup, Federal Way, and University Place where curb appeal means a tidy rather than lush appearance, this is the right profile. The Field Green, Olive, and Tan color blend maintains the multi-tone depth that reads as real grass rather than a solid-color synthetic product.

Three blade shapes, same as our premium landscape turf. The S, W, and Diamond fiber shapes create natural variation in how light interacts with the surface. Single-blade turfs develop a visible repeating pattern at certain angles. The three-shape system in Native Grass does not, which keeps the shorter pile looking natural rather than sparse.

Sanitized antimicrobial in the fiber. Integrated into the yarn during manufacturing, not applied as a surface coating. It does not wash off. Inhibits bacteria, mold, and odor-causing microbes, making it a practical choice for pet turf installations and family yards across the South Sound. The shorter pile also makes cleanup easier for pet households than a taller, denser product.

Drainage above 400 inches per hour. The same permeability rating as our heavier landscape products. The turf surface is never the drainage bottleneck regardless of how heavy the rain gets. Long-term drainage depends on base preparation, which our crew handles on every job.

Plant-based EnviroLoc+ backing, independently verified. A significant portion of conventional petroleum-based polypropylene replaced with biobased material derived from soybean oil. Confirmed through the USDA BioPreferred program with a certification number on every roll. PFAS-free. For homeowners in Washington state researching plant-based or PFAS-free artificial grass, the credentials are independently verified, not self-reported.

Limited lifetime warranty, made in the USA. American-manufactured with verifiable material tolerances. Real-world performance is 15 to 20 years, with foot traffic as the main variable.

What does the shorter pile height mean in practice?

Native Grass has a 1.5 inch pile, a great all purpose pile height. The result is a cleaner, tighter look that resembles a freshly mowed lawn rather than a full lush one. It is well suited to backyards and HOA settings where a maintained, refined appearance matters more than visual volume. The shorter pile also tends to be more practical for pet households -- liquids drain through quickly and the surface is easier to clean.

Is it good for backyards and HOA neighborhoods?

Yes. The shorter pile and multi-tone Field Green, Olive, and Tan coloring give it a tidy, consistent appearance that holds up well under HOA scrutiny. It reads as a well-maintained lawn from the street, which is the test that matters for curb appeal across Tacoma, Gig Harbor, University Place, and Puyallup neighborhoods with appearance standards.

Is it good for dogs?

Yes. The Sanitized antimicrobial technology is built into the yarn fiber, not a surface coating, so it does not degrade or wash off over time. It inhibits bacteria, mold, and odor-causing microbes. The shorter pile makes drainage and surface cleanup more practical for pet use. For very heavy daily use in a dedicated pet area with multiple dogs, we can help you determine whether this or another product in our lineup is the better fit during your free estimate.

How does it drain in Pacific Northwest rain?

Above 400 inches per hour. The turf surface itself is never the drainage bottleneck. Long-term drainage depends on base preparation beneath the turf, which our in-house crew handles correctly on every installation.

What is the soy-based backing?

EnviroLoc+ replaces a significant portion of petroleum-based polypropylene with biobased material derived from soybean oil. It is a structural component of the backing, confirmed through the USDA BioPreferred program with a certification number printed on every roll. PFAS-free. For homeowners in Washington state researching plant-based artificial grass, the credentials are independently verified.

How long will it last?

Limited lifetime warranty from the manufacturer. Real-world performance is 15 to 20 years. Foot traffic is the main variable -- a dedicated pet area will show more wear over time than a front yard lawn with lighter daily use.

Is it safe for kids?

Yes. PFAS-free, lead-free, and tested with antimicrobial and UV-stable technology. Safe for children and pets in regular contact with the surface.
