Artificial Grass Putting Green Installation

Custom putting green installation in Bellevue residential property

A great backyard putting green isn’t just turf laid flat, it’s shaped, contoured, and built to roll true.

We work with each homeowner to design a green that fits their space and their game, from subtle undulations and thoughtful hole placement to optional fringe, chipping areas, and sand bunkers. Every green is built to feel natural and playable, not decorative.

The PGA Pro's Choice

We use a premium texturized nylon surface known for consistent speed and realistic ball roll, paired with careful base preparation that keeps the surface stable in our wet climate. The result is a green that performs the way golfers expect, year after year.

From Tacoma to Gig Harbor and throughout the Puget Sound, we’ve become a trusted choice for homeowners who want a practice green that looks great and actually improves their short game.

Phase 01
Design & Site Evaluation
Measuring, planning, and custom layout
Free on-site consultation — we assess drainage, sun exposure, and elevation change across your property.
Custom green design — hole count, cup placement, fringe zones, and break contours mapped to your space.
NP50 turf selection — the right speed and pile height for a true, consistent roll.
A clear written quote with timeline before any work begins.
Phase 02
Excavation & Engineered Base
The foundation everything rolls on
3–4 inch excavation — existing lawn and unstable soil removed entirely, not just scraped.
Crushed aggregate base — compacted in lifts for Pacific Northwest glacial clay and high rainfall.
Contour shaping — subtle breaks and slopes hand-formed for realistic ball roll and drainage.
Weed barrier — commercial-grade geotextile laid before any turf touches the base.
Phase 03
Turf, Cups & Final Finishing
Every detail dialed in before we leave
NP50 turf hand-cut and fitted — straight seams glued precisely so they blend invisibly into the green.
Cup inserts set — regulation-depth cups positioned for authentic feel and clean ball retention.
Envirofill broomed in — non-toxic, antimicrobial infill for consistent speed and a safe surface year-round.
We walk the finished green with you — rolling a few putts together before the truck leaves.

Jarod, Brian, Brady and the crew did an amazing job on our backyard putting green. It looks perfect and rolls great! The design was fantastic and the end result was beyond what I expected. They were wonderful to work with, very professional, and communication throughout the entire process was great. I have already recommended them to a couple of buddies and look forward to working with them again in the future!

Background for testimonial
  • It depends entirely on how it's built. A flat, generic green with no contour will get boring fast and won't translate to real on-course improvement. A well-designed green with subtle breaks, varied hole positions, and realistic speed will change how you practice. Short game accounts for roughly 60% of shots in a round of golf, and most golfers never practice it with the same focus they give the range. Having a true-rolling green 30 feet from your back door removes every barrier to that practice. See examples of what a properly designed green looks like in our project gallery.

  • We use NP50, a texturized nylon product specifically engineered for putting surfaces. Nylon is critical here. Polyethylene — the material used in most landscape turf — is too soft and inconsistent for accurate ball roll. Nylon holds its shape under foot traffic and putts, recovers quickly, and delivers consistent speed across the entire surface. NP50 is used by PGA teaching facilities and serious practice greens nationwide. It's not the cheapest option, but it's the one that actually performs the way a golfer expects a green to perform.

  • A well-installed NP50 green typically rolls between 9 and 11 on the Stimpmeter, which puts it in the range of a well-maintained private club green. The exact speed depends on pile height, infill depth, and how the surface is brushed and maintained. This is fast enough to feel realistic and challenge your stroke, but not so fast that casual use becomes frustrating. We can discuss target speed during your design consultation based on your game and how you intend to use the green.

  • Most residential putting greens in the Puget Sound area run $18–24 per square foot installed, depending on size, shape complexity, number of holes, and whether you're adding fringe, a chipping area, or a bunker. Our cost calculator gives you a realistic starting point, and estimates are always free and done in person so we can assess your specific site.

  • Contours are a core part of what we do. A flat green is easier to build but far less useful and far less interesting. We shape the sub-base to create realistic undulations, subtle side slopes, and tiered sections that make every putt a different read. Good contour design requires understanding both how water needs to drain and how a ball needs to roll — it's one of the harder parts of a quality putting green installation. We work with you during the design phase to create breaks that challenge your game without making casual use frustrating. Browse our past greens to see what's possible.

  • Yes, drainage is built into the design from the start. NP50 turf has a highly permeable backing, and we construct the base with compacted crushed rock that moves water through quickly even during heavy Puget Sound rain. Contoured greens require especially careful drainage planning so water exits the surface evenly without pooling in low spots. We've built greens on waterfront properties in Gig Harbor, hillside yards in North Tacoma, and flat suburban lots throughout Pierce County — they all drain reliably because we engineer the base for our specific climate.

  • Smaller than most people think. A meaningful practice green can start around 150 to 200 square feet — roughly the size of a large parking space. At that size you can fit two or three holes with different positions and still have room for a fringe border. Larger greens in the 400 to 800 sq ft range allow for full contouring, multiple pin positions, and a dedicated chipping area. We've built greens in tight side yards, on rooftop decks, and as part of larger backyard projects. Book a free estimate and we'll assess your space and show you what's realistically possible.

  • Yes, and for serious golfers we strongly recommend it. A chipping area with a slightly higher pile turf adjacent to the green lets you practice bump-and-runs, chip shots, and pitches that feed onto the putting surface. Sand bunkers are fully buildable and add both visual appeal and practice value. These additions are planned during the design phase and built into the base and shaping work from the start. Adding them after the fact is possible but more costly, so it's worth deciding upfront during your free design consultation.

  • NP50 nylon is one of the most durable turf surfaces available and holds up well under consistent use. A properly installed green lasts 15 to 20 years with basic care. Maintenance is minimal: periodic brushing to keep fibers upright, occasional rinsing to clear debris, and checking that cup liners stay seated. Unlike natural greens, there's no mowing, no aeration, no topdressing, and no seasonal shutdown. You can putt on it in January rain or August sun without any prep.

  • A well-designed putting green should look intentional, not dropped in. We shape the perimeter to follow the natural lines of your yard rather than cutting a generic rectangle into your landscaping. Fringe turf around the border creates a natural transition between the putting surface and surrounding beds, hardscape, or lawn. We've integrated greens with paver patios, retaining walls, landscape lighting, and existing trees in ways that make the green feel like the centerpiece of the outdoor space.
