Synthetic Turf Playground at St. Charles Borromeo School, University Place, Washington

St. Charles Borromeo School reached out to us looking to convert their old wood chip playground area to artificial turf. Understanding the specific needs and safety aspects of school play areas, we were happy to work on this Tacoma turf installation which is in our backyard.

Safety at the Forefront:

Central to the project was the inclusion of the 2 1/4 inch recycled PolyGreen playground pad. This recycled playground pad with built in weed barrier has an impressive 9-foot fall height capability.

Turf Nailer board to protect the edge:

We used a Redwood Materials composite nailer board Secured into the concrete curbing using tapcon screws which will last much longer than pressure or ground contact lumber.

The EZ Play Advantage:

The school's playground now sports our SoftLawn EZ Play synthetic turf. Unique to EZ Play is its ChargeGuard feature, designed to prevent the build-up of static electricity as children play.

Prioritizing Health with Envirofill:

Child safety and health are paramount. That’s why we always use safe turf infill options on our projects. Envirofill is known for its antimicrobial properties, this cutting-edge fill material is non-toxic and perfectly safe for kids, granting parents and school staff peace of mind.
